My Pregnancy & Postpartum Secrets

My Pregnancy & Postpartum Secrets

Let's talk pregnancy & postpartum!

During my pregnancy, I read that it places such a significant demand on the body, pushing it close to the limits of human endurance! Women truly are amazing.

There's no denying pregnancy and birth are absolutely beautiful yet demanding on your body. Your hormones, energy, digestive health and skin can all be shaken up!

My personal secrets for a wonderful, energising pregnancy consist of the below:

  1. I hired a private midwife with the intention to do a home birth. Although I ended up birthing in hospital, having my midwife Jenny throughout my whole pregnancy journey and birth was such a game changer. Jenny was aligned with our values and most importantly knew exactly what we did and didn't want when it came to intervention. We felt educated and empowered. This is easily my number one tip as you also receive postpartum support.
  2. Eat nourishing foods, regularly. Don't over complicate it. Whole foods, slow cooked meals that are easy to digest and rich in nutritional value.
  3. 6 Week Gut + Skin Reset (I personally took this continuously throughout)
  4. Personalised care. I had the wonderful support of my Naturopath, Lucy and Acupuncturist, Fiona.
  5. Rest! Never underestimate the power of a good nap.
  6. Prenatal vitamins - this is always based on individual needs. There are a number of supplements that support fetal development and maternal health. For example, iodine, iron, DHA. Don't buy cheap products off the shelf, request support via a practitioner.
  7. Emotional support - pregnancy is such a huge change. Throughout my pregnancy I regularly saw my wonderful Kinesiologist, Julia from Sanctom. My son Louie and I continue to see Julia monthly. I was able to work through so many things that popped up during this transitional period and definitely felt more mentally prepared as a result.
  8. Chiropractor! I couldn't live without my chiro Brad! In the lead up to my birth, I was seeing Brad twice a week (usually I would see him monthly). I really feel as though this helped to prepare my body for birth.
  9. Pregnancy massage - a must. I booked with Olive from Nuwa after many recommendations and Olive did not disappoint!!! Treat yourself to the 90 minute massage and thank me later.
  10. Exercise - do movement that suits you. I took things very slowly throughout and enjoyed Yin Yoga, walks and swimming.

I always receive so many questions on how our products can be supportive during pregnancy and postpartum. Here's a quick breakdown:

  1. Supports regular bowel motions (let's be honest, the surge in progesterone can really slow things down)
  2. Improve energy (certainly needed during both stages)
  3. Glowing skin (thank you, Restore)
  4. Support hormone regulation, especially important in postpartum
  5. Increase overall vitality

Everyone's pregnancy and postpartum journey is different. Be sure to consult with your practitioner before taking products to ensure they are right for you.
